Delta to launch nonstop flights from Austin to Jacksonville in May 2025

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Delta Air Lines will launch nonstop flights between Austin and Jacksonville in May 2025, the airline announced Friday.

The new route will be Delta's seventh new nonstop service from AUS in 2025. Once-daily flights will begin May 7 and will be operated by SkyWest Airlines as Delta Connection.

Flights will leave Austin at 8:55 a.m. and arrive in Jacksonville at 12:35 p.m. local time. Return flights will leave Jacksonville at 1:15 p.m. and arrive in Austin at 3 p.m.

"Whether customers are travelling for business or leisure, they will greatly benefit from yet another convenient direct flight through Delta from Austin," a Delta spokesperson told KXAN. "Delta is committed to connecting Austin to more destinations, offering customers greater convenience and choice as the city continues to grow."

Jacksonville is currently not served by any other airline from Austin, after American Airlines canceled its route in January. AUS-JAX is the most in-demand domestic route that currently does not have direct flights, according to a monthly air service report presented to the Austin Airport Advisory Commission.

In addition to the Jacksonville route, Delta will launch several other new nonstop flights next year. Service to New Orleans will begin in February, while flights to Panama City, Florida, begin in March. Flights to Indianapolis and Memphis will launch in May, then service to San Francisco and Tampa begins in June.

Delta is currently the third-largest airline at AUS in terms of passenger traffic, but that is forecast to change next year, after American cut more than 30 routes in late 2023 and 2024.

"Based on the schedules that they've loaded, we do expect Delta will become the second-largest carrier in the first half of 2025. Southwest remains number one, and American will fall to number three," Jason Alexander, AUS deputy chief of airport affairs, said in the advisory commission meeting last week.

Southwest and Frontier Airlines have also announced new routes from Austin in 2025. Southwest will fly to Milwaukee and Reno beginning March 6, while Frontier will fly to Cincinnati and Phoenix starting March 7.

Tickets for Delta's new Jacksonville route go on sale Saturday.
