Bastrop ISD school bus involved in crash
AUSTIN (KXAN) — A Bastrop ISD school bus was involved in a crash Friday morning with students onboard, the district confirmed.
According to BISD, first responders evaluated the students for any injuries, and no serious injuries were reported.
“Out of an abundance of caution, some students were transported to the hospital,” the district said. “Most students were safely transported to their campus after being evaluated by emergency personnel, where they were reunited with their families.”
It is unclear what led to the crash, which occurred near the intersection of Highway 71 and Blue Flame Road.
“We would like to express our deep appreciation to first responders and law enforcement who were on the scene so quickly giving care to all those involved,” BISD said. “We also sincerely appreciate the outpouring of support and positive thoughts from our community during this time.”
According to the district, the crash is under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety. BISD added that the district and its transportation provider, GoldStar Transit, were fully cooperating with the investigation.
