Will you get your mail on Thanksgiving? Here's what's closed

0

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Thanksgiving is fast approaching, so if you've been putting off heading to the post office, you may want to get that done before then.

That's because USPS offices around the U.S. will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28 in observance of the holiday. There also won't be regular mail service, but Priority Mail Express will be delivered on Turkey Day.

Here's what else is closed during Thanksgiving:

Other post offices

UPS, FedEx and DHL offices will be shuttered during the holiday.

Federal/state offices

All New York State DMV offices, city and state courts and Social Security offices won't be open.

Schools/libraries

All New York City public schools and libraries are closed.

Most banks

Banks like Bank of America, TD Bank, Capital One and Chase Bank will shut down for the day, but you'll still be able to do online or mobile banking.

Some museums

The American Museum of Natural History, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Museum of Modern Art will be closed.

Alternate side parking and meters will be suspended on Thanksgiving Day. Trash, curbside composting or recycling also won't be collected.

The Department of Sanitation recommends putting your garbage out on Friday for collection.
