Second wind, rain event of the week arrives in PNW

0

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The second storm of the week will keep wind and rain in the forecast for much of the Portland, Vancouver area on Friday.

This storm is expected to be weaker than Tuesday's bomb cyclone. Winds will increase across the region as wind alerts go into effect. Rain showers will be scattered in nature as temperatures remain mild.

Rain accumulation is expected to be near three-quarters of an inch to an inch in some locations by the end of the day on Saturday. The wet weather trend will continue through much of the weekend.

Gusty winds and rain will impact coastal conditions with higher waves and the threat of sneaker waves.

Friday's cold front that brings the rain and wind will help drop snow elevations through the day. Snow elevations will stabilize around 4,000' through the end of the weekend.

Snow accumulation will be near almost a foot for some ski resorts by the end of the day on Saturday. Slick road conditions are possible at higher elevations as colder temperatures return this weekend.

The bomb cyclone that impacted the Pacific Northwest will swing back into the region on Sunday and Monday. This second visit will be significantly less impactful as much of its strength has been extinguished. Slightly drier and cooler conditions are expected as sunny skies return by Thanksgiving Day.
