TOM’S WEEKEND PREVIEW – 23rd & 24th November

Hi and welcome to this weekend’s preview with Royston Town FC, Royston Town Women, Royston Town Reserves and Royston Town Vets.

 

First up, Royston Town Women have another cup fixture on the road, when they travel to Fulham Women in the FA Women’s Cup 2nd Round Proper, Sunday, 2:30 pm kick-off. Royston Town Women have reached this stage of the competition for the 1st time ever, while Fulham Women have won the competition twice in 2002 and 2003 by beating Doncaster Rovers Belles and Charlton Athletic, and finished runners up in 2001 losing 1-0 to Arsenal. The Finals then were held at Selhurst Park the home of Crystal Palace. 

 

Both Royston Town and Fulham entered the 2nd Qualifying Round this season, Royston Town beat Haringey Borough, Bungay Town and Newport Pagnell Town while hosts Fulham beat Espom & Ewell, Maidenhead United and Chesham United. Both clubs last weekend also progressed in their county cups against their league rivals, Royston Town beat St Albans 6-1 away and Fulham beat Sport London E Benfica 5-0 at home.

Next up, Royston Town return to league action when they welcome Redditch United in the Southern League Premier Central, Saturday, 3 pm kick-off. Royston Town were knocked out of the FA Trophy against higher opposition Rushall Olympic, then knocked out of the Herts Senior Challenge Cup by Ware FC.

Next up, Royston Town Reserves travel to Bedfordshire when they take on Leighton Town Development in the Spartan South Midlands Division One, Saturday, 3pm kick-off. Royston Town Reserves also crashed out of the cup on the weekend and suffered a 4-0 home defeat to Rushden & Higham United midweek so are now hoping to put things right this time round.

Last up, Royston Town Vets return to league action as they host Lea Sports Vets in the Herts Vets League Premier Division, Sunday, 10:30am kick-off. Royston Town Vets got a win in the cup last Sunday when they beat Sandridge Rovers Vets 3-2 in the Group Stage with a George Kew brace and Lee Wilkinson scoring a penalty to keep their knockout stages hopes alive.
