Two arrested in Albany on weapon charges
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Albany Police arrested two men on Wednesday in connection to an ongoing investigation. Luis Morales, 41, and Jayson Cruz, 36, both of Albany, are facing felony weapon charges.
On November 20 around 8:25 p.m., police pulled over a car on Clinton Avenue's 300 block while conducting an active investigation in the area. During the traffic stop, detectives reportedly found a loaded handgun in the car, resulting in the arrest of Morales and Cruz, the vehicle's two occupants. They now face the following charges:
Morales
- Criminal possession of a firearm
Cruz
- Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Criminal possession of a firearm
Cruz was arraigned at the Albany City Criminal Court on Thursday before being released under Albany County Probation. Morales was released with an appearance ticket for Albany City Criminal Court on a later date.
