Yobs will be banned from public spaces including town centres and parks under new ‘Respect Orders’

YOBS will be banned from town centres and parks under new “Respect Orders” in a crackdown on anti-social behaviour.

Cops will be able to bar louts from public spaces using the restrictions which echo the Asbos launched in 1998.

Two years’ jail, unlimited fines and forced unpaid work could await those breaching restrictions.

Police will also be allowed to seize recklessly ridden vehicles such as off-road bikes and e-scooters.

Offenders may have to undertake drug treatment or anger management.

The orders, akin to Labour ex-PM Tony Blair’s anti- social behaviour orders, will form part of the Crime and Policing Bill.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said: “Too many town centres and neighbourhoods are plagued by anti-social behaviour, be it street drinking, harassment or vandalism on the high street or noisy and intimidating off-road bikes.

“Antisocial behaviour chips away at communities’ sense of confidence and pride, undermines local businesses and can have a devastating impact on victims.”

Deputy Chief Constable Andy Prophet, of Essex Police, said: “I’m pleased to see the ability to ban offenders from our high street and parks, with a power of arrest for those who ignore such direction.”
