Welcome to our new-look Metro – a faster, fresher site, built for you

0

Dear reader,

You may have noticed we have freshened up our website. We really like it, and hope you do too.

We’ve listened to your feedback and acted on it to build a cleaner, faster site that better showcases our content.

With a new navigation menu and clearly signposted sections, it is easier to find what you’re looking for, whether you come to us for news, lifestyle, entertainment, sport or soaps.

We are proud to be the UK’s highest circulated newspaper as well as London’s biggest and best-loved title and we are grateful to the millions of readers who pick up the paper every day, along with 2million more that join us online at metro.co.uk.

Our new website now gives even more ways for you to enjoy Metro across all our platforms.

As more of you choose to get your news in video form, we have given our short video player more prominence.

You’ll find live coverage of the day’s biggest stories, from travel and weather to breaking news.

It’s easier to find our brilliant Platform section, the heart of Metro where we look to elevate the stories of the real people at the centre of the news.It is the home of our first person and real life stories and where you’ll find our columnists and opinion too.

Look out for new columnists coming soon, bringing their hot takes on the day’s talking points.

It’s easier to sign up to our newsletters, where you can get a curated selection of news, travel, soaps, property, and sport straight to your inbox.

Sign up to The Slice to get Metro’s essential guide to London or our daily Horoscopes forecast, tailored just for you.

And you can join us on Whatsapp, where you can choose from updates from news, entertainment, sport, soaps or the LGBTQ+ world to be sent direct via the messaging app.

Our reporters are on Tiktok, Instagram and Facebook – just follow these links or search “Metro UK” on your preferred social platform. We’d love you to give us a follow.

Of course, you’ll still find all the interesting and entertaining stories you expect from Metro.

Just this week, we have uncovered alleged sexual abuse at an LGBTQ+ church, leading to the arrest of a church leader.

Thanks to an investigation by one of our reporters, we now know why UK rivers are so filthy and just how hard it will be to clean them up.

Our Soaps team have given an insight into the shows that changed their lives and we lifted the lid on London’s ‘most dangerous’ railway station.

We’ve got a lot more exciting stories in the pipeline too, so remember to add our URL to your homescreen and be the first to see our brilliant exclusives, thought-provoking real-life stories and the tantalising conversation starters that everyone’s talking about.

Inside Metro's redesign - from the people behind it

Metro’s redesigned site launch marks the end of a year-long project for teams across Metro and our wider publishing business.

Metro’s Product Lead, Emily Shackleton, who led the relaunch and interviewed many of you in the process, said.

‘Our readers wanted a cleaner, less cluttered, easier to read website, and what’s what we’ve created. We have talented user experience, design and tech teams who I must call out in particular as they have made our vision a reality, and I’m very proud of the work we’ve done together.’

‘Metro.co.uk and its social media channels have seen tremendous growth over the last year. The new design will also shine a light on video, ensuring it’s a clearer part of our storytelling so users can watch the best of our short form content published on TikTok and YouTube on our site.’

“What’s more, it’s only the beginning! Watch this space for what we do next….’

This is the beginning of our journey – the site will continue to evolve and improve – and it would be great if you could join us on the way.

We would love to hear from you – the good, the bad and the indifferent – so please do email us at hey@metro.co.uk using the subject bar ‘new site’.

All feedback on the new experience and suggestions for future developments are welcome.

With thanks, Deborah (editor-in-chief), Emily (Metro’s product lead) and all the Metro team.
