Arab media have reported that Amos Hochstein, the U.S. Special Envoy, has traveled to Beirut as part of ongoing regional and international efforts to establish a ceasefire in Lebanon.

Al Arabiya reported on Tuesday, November 19 that the U.S. envoy left Washington for Beirut after both Hezbollah and the Lebanese government expressed tentative approval of the proposed peace plan.

According to the report, Hezbollah and the Lebanese government have agreed to the ceasefire proposal but emphasized that certain aspects of the plan require further considerations and adjustments.

Reuters also reported yesterday, citing a senior aide to the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, that Lebanon has agreed to the ceasefire plan with some reservations.

However, Israel has not yet approved the U.S.-backed ceasefire proposal for Lebanon, indicating a lack of consensus in the region.

According to Axios, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reluctant to agree to the 60-day ceasefire proposal. If Israel gives its approval, the U.S. envoy is expected to leave Beirut for Tel Aviv tomorrow.

These developments highlight the fragile nature of the ceasefire negotiations, with Lebanon showing cautious approval and Israel yet to commit.

The regional stakeholders remain divided, complicating efforts to achieve lasting peace.

The outcome of these discussions could significantly impact regional stability. The international community’s continued engagement and pressure on all parties will be essential to turn these tentative agreements into a comprehensive resolution.
