New Delhi: American vocalist Krishna Das has praised Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and his wife, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, for being “very sincere” people, noting that the couple has attended his kirtan sessions in London and Mumbai, helping to boost their popularity.

During an appearance on Ranveer Allahbadia’s BeerBiceps YouTube podcast, Krishna Das compared Virat Kohli to former basketball legend Michael Jordan, calling him the Indian version of the iconic player.

In recent times, Virat Kohli has embraced spirituality, often spotted at various locations across India with his wife Anushka Sharma and their daughter Vamika.

“Do you know who Virat Kohli is sir,” Allahbadia asked Das.

“I have heard about him. He is your version of Michael Jordan,” Das replied. He added that he sees Virat and Anushka as his friends, after being asked about a viral video of the duo attending his kirtan.

Das spoke about Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma visiting the renowned Indian saint Neem Karoli Baba, highlighting how this spiritual journey has brought about positive change in Virat, describing them as very ‘sincere’ people.

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma attended one of Krishna Das’ kirtan sessions in Mumbai last month, shortly before Virat left for the second Test against New Zealand in Pune.

“Virat and Anushka joined us at Krishna Das Live in Mumbai today, seeking blessings and connecting with the serene atmosphere,” the organisers posted on Instagram.

Despite his ordinary returns with the bat in Tests this year, Virat Kohli has been the cynosure of all eyes since the Indian squad arrived in Australia last week.

Kohli has faced a challenging patch in all formats over the past few months, managing just two centuries and 11 fifties in his last 60 Test innings.

Kohli will be key to India’s success Down Under, as he has been one of the most successful Indian batters ever in Australia.
