Ohio State's Ryan Day previews top-five game against Indiana

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- For the third time this season, No. 2 Ohio State will face a top-five opponent, with No. 5 Indiana visiting Ohio Stadium on Saturday.

Head coach Ryan Day looked ahead to the matchup in his weekly press conference on Tuesday and made an appeal to fans attending the contest.

"I know that this week is going to be a huge opportunity for us to show a nation what the best damn fans in the land look like," Day said. "This is going to be that type of game where we got to be loud on third down every time they have the ball. Certainly the atmosphere is going to be tremendous."

Ohio State is 1-1 in top-five matchups this season, losing to Oregon and defeating Penn State. Both of those games were on the road. The Buckeyes have won four straight since falling to the Ducks, most recently defeating Northwestern 31-7 on Saturday at Wrigley Field in Chicago.

"We've seen it from both sides. From what not to do and what to do. We learned from the Oregon game going into the Penn State game on how to finish a game," quarterback Will Howard said. "We've seen it, we've done it. We've been in a lot of these big games. I've played a lot of them myself."

Receiver Carnell Tate and running back Quinshon Judkins each scored two touchdowns in the win over the Wildcats, and the defense kept them scoreless after allowing an early touchdown. Ohio State had four sacks and six tackles for a loss.

With Oregon still unbeaten, Saturday's game will likely determine who will make the Big Ten championship game in Indianapolis on Dec. 7. The Hoosiers are second in the league standings with a 10-0 overall record and the Buckeyes third.

Indiana, led by first year head coach Curt Cignetti, is coming off a bye week. The Buckeyes will be the first ranked opponent the Hoosiers have faced this season.

"We've put ourselves in a position right now to be talked about quite a bit. That's nice. It doesn't help us prepare. Doesn't help us play any better," Cignetti said. "We've got some great opportunities ahead of us. And this is a team that's capable. And the only limitations on this football team would be those we put on ourselves between our ears."
