Appartement Paradis

0

Appartement Paradis is a minimalist apartment located in Paris, France, designed by Joris Poggioli with styling by Aurore Lameyre. The renovation began with uncovering the apartment’s original features—moldings, parquet floors, and fireplaces—each a piece of its historical narrative. Restoring these elements was more than preservation; it was an exploration, peeling back modifications to reveal architectural details that bring the apartment’s history to life. With a ceiling height of 420 cm, the space naturally commanded a design on a grand scale, both spatially and conceptually. Modern interventions, like a large headboard and a mezzanine resembling a ship’s prow, complement rather than overshadow the apartment’s historical framework, balancing old-world elegance with clean, contemporary lines.

The new additions are restrained and respectful, providing a minimalist backdrop that lets the original architecture speak for itself. Art and décor play a subtle yet powerful role in enhancing this dialogue between eras. Amerindian art, chosen for its rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship, resonates with the apartment’s artisanal roots, while refined Puiforcat bowls add a layer of modern elegance. Together, these pieces underscore the apartment’s balance of tradition and modernity, blending to create an atmosphere that feels both monumental and intimate. Navigating the challenges of modernization without diluting the apartment’s historical soul required careful attention to materials, lighting, and layout. The objective was to meet contemporary living standards without compromising the integrity of Napoleon-era craftsmanship.
