A woman’s dead body was discovered stuffed in a freezer weeks after she called police about a ‘roommate issue’.

The remains of Monique Gilbertson, 68, were found in an icebox inside her home after cops responded to a wellness check on November 6, said the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

‘She called you guys about two weeks ago,’ an employee at Gilbertson’s community for people aged 55 and older told a 911 dispatcher, according to 8 News Now.

‘She had a roommate issue, and she called because in her roommate’s stuff, she had found a gun, but I don’t know how far she got with that phone call.

‘She said that she couldn’t get a hold of you guys she was going to like throw it in the trash.’

Officers who arrived at the home on the 5500 block of Tres Piedras Road in Las Vegas tried to make contact with the woman but got no response. They entered and found two individuals who would not say her whereabouts.

‘While officers searched the home they located a deceased female in a freezer,’ stated the police department.

They detained both individuals, one who was identified as Daniel Roush, 37. Roush was arrested in connection with Gilbertson’s death and is being held at the Clark County Detention Center.

An investigation determined that Gilbertson met Roush, who goes by Jazzlynn Roush, at a store and invited him to reside with her. Gilbertson later got ‘upset about how filthy Roush was’ despite him helping her with house work, according to documents obtained by 8 News Now.

Gilbertson evicted Roush from her home around October 22 and changed the locks. She had called the property manager’s office multiple times but stopped doing so on that very date, according to the employee.

It was not immediately known if the employee was referring to Roush when he mentioned the ‘roommate issue’, but there was no sign that Gilbertson was living with anyone else in the weeks leading up to her death, per the documents.

Roush asked the responding cops if they had ‘warrants to look at the freezer’, stated the documents. He claimed that he found Gilbertson in a dining room chair slumped over and ‘put her in the icebox’. Roush added that he believes Gilbertson overdosed on fentanyl and cocaine she bought from him.

How Roush may have gotten into the home after the locks were changed was not clear.

There was little blood at the scene. Gilbertson’s cause and manner of death were still pending as of Friday.

Roush has been charged with second-degree murder. He plead not guilty in a court appearance last Wednesday, KSNV reported.

Gilbertson’s body was found about a month after a human head and hands discovered in a freezer at a Colorado home were identified as belonging to a teenage girl who disappeared 19 years ago.
