The U.S. Department of State honors those who advance human rights and combat discrimination in countries around the world with the Global Anti-Racism Champions Award. The 2024 award winners have worked to expand access to essential services, free women and girls from domestic servitude and broaden economic opportunity.
“We’ve made progress,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, announcing the six recipients at an October ceremony. But “we’re still striving to realize the trust and the truth enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights that all human beings are born free, born equal in dignity and in rights.”
“As we seek to realize that more just and equitable future,” Blinken added, “we have few greater partners than the civil society advocates like the courageous leaders that we honor today.”
