Four people die in Sulphur mobile home fire Sunday
SULPHUR, La. (KLFY) -- Four people were killed in a mobile home fire in Sulphur early Sunday morning, authorities said.
The Sulphur Fire Department responded at around 4 a.m. Sunday to a report of a mobile home fire located in the 800 block of Brandi Street. When firefighters arrived, they found the home completely engulfed in flames, officials said.
During the process of extinguishing the fire, firefighters found the bodies of four people in the home. Official identification and cause of death are pending with the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office.
Mutual aid at the scene was provided by Carlyss Fire Department, Houston River Fire Department and Ward 6 Fire Department.
Investigators said the fire potentially started in or around the utility room. While the exact cause remains undetermined at this time, deputies said they cannot rule out potential electrical issues, unsafe heating practices or improperly discarded smoking materials. It was undetermined if the home had working smoke alarms.
