Evergy reports 1,600 customers without power in Manhattan
MANHATTAN (KSNT) - A Kansas energy provider company is reporting a large power outage impacting residents and businesses in the Little Apple on Monday.
Evergy is reporting on its online outage map that more than 1,600 customers are experiencing a power outage in the Manhattan area on Nov. 18. This is being caused by multiple outages impacting different parts of the city.
The largest outage being reported by Evergy was announced around 11:45 a.m. on Nov. 18 for an area north of the Sunset Zoo and parts of Kansas State University. Work crews are estimated to have the outage fixed by 1:15 p.m. on Nov. 18. The cause of this outage is listed as "unidentified."
KSNT Stormtrack Meteorologist Ely Millard said strong winds and widespread rain could be expected for much of northeast Kansas on Nov. 18. Winds are expected to pick up in the afternoon hours with isolated storms possible.
