This is what it looks like to be swallowed by a shark

Okay, we realise that if you were swallowed by a shark you might not get much of chance to look around inside.

But still, in theory, this video shows you what you might see if those pesky shark teeth haven’t got in the way beforehand.

The extraordinary footage was captured after a tiger shark off Tiger Beach in the Bahamas attempted to eat a man’s iPhone.

Ken Kiefer, 55, from Houston in the US, was using his phone to film underwater while on a tiger shark diving trip with the Dolphin Dream Team.

One of the sharks, called Jitterbug, swam up to Ken and grabbed the phone, probably mistaking it for chum, the food used by the tour group to entice the animals.

After attempting to eat the phone, Jitterbug seemed to realise it was not food and promptly spat it out.

Incredibly the camera had managed to pick up some fantastic footage of the inside of the Jitterbug’s mouth.

Ken said: ‘I was watching the shark chew on the housing of the phone.’

‘I figured the phone was a gone and then saw spit it out.’

Tiger sharks are the second most dangerous sharks after great whites and responsible for a significant share of shark attack fatalities.

However, unprovoked shark attacks are rare, with only 10 fatalities across the world in 2023, according to The University of Florida’s International Shark Attack File.

And this was quite a high number – twice as many as the year before, the New Scientist reports.
