Home Bargains shoppers fuming over mistake on Christmas decoration that ‘takes 20 tries to spot’ – so can you see it?
WITH so much money to spend on gifts for loved ones, there’s no better feeling that picking up a bargain Christmas decoration.
It’s even better when it’s further marked down in price in an unexpected festive sale.
Home Bargains shoppers have been left stunned over a mistake on a Christmas decoration[/caption]The fun Winter Charm Metal Standing Street Sign gives directions to Santa’s workshop, elf village and reindeer stables, and would look perfect indoors or outdoors.
The free-standing decoration was originally priced at £6.99 in Home Bargains but was slashed to just £2.99.
And stunned shoppers have just discovered why.
After picking it up in her local store, mum Jodie asked: “CAN YOU SPOT THE ERROR? Home Bargains, Forfar, Scotland.”
She added: “Warning: a lot of people may be disappointed. My partner is now looking for a way to fix.
“It never said it was on sale or anything just priced the same as every other thing with a plastic price tag at the front door. There was no reduced to clear or any indication anything was wrong.
“It’s going in the garden where no-one can notice it.
“I just thought it was cheap because it was Home Bargains.”
The post, shared on the popular Bargain Lovers Poundland, Home Bargains, B&M, Primark, The Range group which boasts 400,000 members, has since racked up more than 350 likes and hundreds of comments.
And it turns out plenty of people were oblivious to the spelling mistake – despite many already having the decoration displayed in their home.
The top plaque on the metal signpost should read: “Welcome to the North Pole.”
But the ‘e’ is missing from ‘the’ leaving it to read: “Welcome to th North Pole.”
One gobsmacked Christmas fan said: “I’ve got this [and] didn’t even notice, I’m away to check.”
Moments later, she added: “The letter is missing, it’s been sat out for over a week and I didn’t even notice. i was chuffed thinking wow I got a bargain”
The sign should read ‘Welcome to the North Pole’[/caption]“Ours too…never noticed it at all until now”, echoed a second.
A third chimed in: “Hahaha divvy me didn’t even notice the mistake lol. I do now oh that would drive me crackers lol.”
Someone else added: “Omg mine’s the same. It’s been sat in my kitchen for 4 days and I never even noticed.”
Meanwhile, a fifth wrote: “Ours is exactly the same, as is my daughter’s, we got ours in Chester UK.”
Many shoppers, however, have insisted the mistake is so hard to spot that it’s still worth buying.
One person said: “Think I am going to leave it, no one notices it until I point it out. We certainly didn’t ha ha.”
“Ours is the same but for the price I’m not that fussed”, admitted another.
A third joked: “I bought this sign, thought I’d found a right bargain… took my 8-year-old to tell me what was wrong with it once I’d got it home.”
“Had to read this like 20+ times, then it clicked”, confessed a fourth.
A fifth echoed: “Took me wayyyyyy to long to see what was wrong with it.”
And another crafty bargain hunter said: “Mine’s the same. I just used a red marker and drew an E haha.”
