It looks like it might be the end of an era for the New York Giants.

Struggling quarterback Daniel Jones has reportedly been benched, and backup quarterback Tommy DeVito will be the starter for Sunday’s game.

Jones was drafted to the Giants back in 2019, and signed a four-year, $160 million contract with the team two years ago. However, Daniel has had near-constant struggles as the team’s starter, from injuries to missed passes, and more.

ESPN reports that the Giants’ 2-7 record this season with Jones at the helm was one factor, as well as his poor overall performance. However, he also has a $23 million injury guarantee in his contract for 2025. This means that if he were to get seriously hurt in any of the remaining games and was unable to pass a physical next year, the Giants also would have to pay him an additional payout this offseason, so this likely factored into the decision as well.

This likely means that Daniel Jones‘ career as a New York Giant is over, barring any other injury issues.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers head to Met Life Stadium on Sunday (November 24) to play against the Giants.
