Nobody Can Top Tom Brady’s Reaction To Caleb Williams’ 4th Down Dime To Odunze

Another day, another brutal late-game loss for the Chicago Bears. There isn’t much to say. Once again, they had a pivotal win in their hands. All they had to do was connect on a 46-yard field goal. It was blocked. For the 11th time in a row, they lost to the Green Bay Packers. What makes it hurt even more is that the game should’ve belonged to Caleb Williams. The rookie quarterback was outstanding in the 4th quarter. He connected on three big-time throws during that final drive. None bigger than a 4th and 3 back-shoulder dime to Rome Odunze for a pivotal 1st down.

Everything about the play was brilliant. Williams had zero hesitation. He turned and threw the moment he hit his back step. The ball was in a place where only his receiver had a shot. Odunze showed tremendous body control to spin around and make the grab. Fans in the stadium went crazy, but nobody had a more guttural reaction than Tom Brady. You can audibly hear him scream in the booth when the pass connects.

Caleb Williams showed incredible guts during that sequence.

While that throw was the pivotal one of the drive, the one before was almost as crucial. Williams had taken back-to-back sacks to make it 3rd and 19. In times like that, previous Bears quarterbacks always crumbled. The rookie instead avoided pressure, scrambled to his right, and hit Odunze for a huge 16-yard gain. Then the play after the conversion, he found Keenan Allen for another 12 yards by beating a seven-man blitz. He finished the day with over 300 total yards and a 74% completion rate.

Brady’s reaction tells you all you need to know. If Caleb Williams can bring the G.O.A.T to his feet with his play, the Bears may finally have the right guy. Now they have to find somebody as head coach who knows how to win.
