Three Bold Predictions: Bears vs. Packers
The Bears enter week 10 with a 4-5 record following a brutal loss against the New England Patriots. This week, they’ll be in the noon window as they take on the 6-3 Green Bay Packers. Here are my three bold predictions for this matchup.
Bears score a TD in the first quarter.
Here’s my boldest take of the year: Bears score a TD in the first quarter. The Packers won’t know what to expect from the Bears new offensive coordinator, Thomas Brown, and the fresh approach he might bring this week. With that in mind, I believe Caleb Williams will play with more freedom and take some risks. Could that result in mistakes? Absolutely. But I also think the Bears will find the end zone this week—a welcome sight for fans who haven’t seen a touchdown in nearly a month.
Kyler Gordon pick-six.
Kyler Gordon made his return to the Bears secondary last week, but I believe he’ll make an even bigger impact this week. Jordan Love has been prone to interceptions, including two pick-sixes this season. I’ve got a feeling—call it a Spidey sense—that Gordon will snag one this week. I can’t predict exactly when or how, but it feels like it’s coming.
Matt Eberflus has a successful challenge.
The Bears have struggled with challenges all season. Sometimes they hesitate to throw the flag, while other times they challenge plays that seem unlikely to be overturned. However, this week at home, I believe they’ll handle the process correctly, and it could make a big difference in this game.
Final score prediction.
Packers 27 Bears 24
On the BFR Podcast, part of Sports Mockery’s Bears show, I predicted a more decisive win for Green Bay. However, I think the Bears will fight hard and keep this game close—maybe it’s the “interim coach bump,” but for the offensive coordinator. I hope I’m wrong, though, and would love to see the Bears improve to 5-5 and finally beat Green Bay.
