Trump appoints Karoline Leavitt as youngest White House Press Secretary
U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Karoline Leavitt, a 27-year-old and the spokesperson for his campaign, as the new White House Press Secretary.
On Friday, November 15, Trump described Leavitt as “intelligent and tough,” adding that she has proven to be an effective communications manager, capable of excelling in her new role.
Leavitt will be the youngest person to ever hold the position of White House Press Secretary. She will also be the fifth individual to serve in this role during Trump’s presidency.
On Friday, Trump also announced the appointments of two other White House officials as part of his second-term administration lineup following the naming of his chief of staff.
Steven Cheung, the communications director for Trump’s campaign, has been named Assistant to the President and White House Communications Director. Cheung previously served as Director of Strategic Response during Trump’s first term.
Trump also appointed Sergio Gor, a close ally, as Assistant to the President and Director of White House Staff alongside Cheung.
These appointments signal Trump’s effort to build a dynamic and experienced team for his second term. By selecting young, energetic figures like Leavitt and seasoned allies such as Cheung and Gor, Trump appears focused on creating a robust communication strategy for his administration.
