Fleet Sign 2024 Draft Pick, Offer Injury Update Amid Training Camp

NATICK, Mass. — The Fleet signed another player from the 2024 draft.

Boston on Friday announced it signed Hadley Hartmetz to a one-year standard player agreement for the 2024-25 PWHL season.

“Hadley is an exciting add to our d-core,” general manager Danielle Marmer said in a press release. “She fits nicely into our physical, hard defending style, while also providing transportability and offensive involvement. She brings a competitiveness and work ethic that will push her teammates and make us better. We’re fortunate to be in Boston where we have access to the best medical resources to allow Hadley to not only recover but to continue her development, so she comes back even stronger than before.”

The Fleet selected Hartmetz in the seventh round, 40th overall, in the 2024 PWHL Draft. The 23-year-old spent two years at Boston College before transferring to Ohio State. She won two national championships with the Buckeyes in 2022 and 2024. The defender scored 18 goals and tallied 41 assists for 59 points in 118 games in three collegiate seasons. She’s won gold and silver with the United States U18 women’s national team.

Hartmetz suffered a lower-body injury in the national championship game and offered an update at Fleet media day Tuesday.

“I was working with the doctors at Ohio State so just trying to transition and working with the doctors here, getting their opinions and then continuing to work to get back to the player I was before,” Hartmetz said.

Hartmetz hoped to make it back in action for training camp and the minicamps leading up to the season opener on Nov. 30.
