First responders to speak to special needs social group in Latham

LATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Teens and young adults with special needs will come together this weekend at Kingpin's Alley in Latham for a social group gathering. These gatherings are always about fostering friendships, but this time around the group is also reaching out to local first responders who may be willing to attend and speak with the group.

The goal is to help build bonds and lessen any anxiety these groups may experience when they encounter police, firefighters, paramedics, and other first responders in emergencies and other interactions. It is also to lessen the likelihood of any misunderstandings or problems within these interactions.

Any first responder who would like to be a part of this effort can stop by Kingpin's Alley on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. The bowling alley is at 375 Troy Schenectady Road.
