Marin supervisor candidate Colbert maintains lead in updated count

0

Brian Colbert continues to lead the race for the District 2 seat on the Marin County Board of Supervisors, but Heather McPhail Sridharan has narrowed the gap slightly.

The county elections office released an updated vote count Wednesday that added about 3,900 ballots to the District 2 tally.

Colbert, a member of the San Anselmo Town Council, now leads with 51.05% of the vote, 2.1 percentage points over McPhail Sridharan. Before Wednesday, McPhail Sridharan trailed by 2.46 percentage points.

In order for her to overtake Colbert, McPhail Sridharan would need to win a very high percentage of the remaining votes.

The election update on Wednesday added 18,513 ballots to the 96,931 previously tallied countywide. Registrar of Voters Lynda Roberts estimates that 28,831 ballots remain to be counted.

Any ballots that arrive in the mail beyond Wednesday will be deemed invalid, regardless of when they were postmarked.

In other Marin contests, the race for three seats on the Fairfax Town Council has Frank Egger ahead with 22% of the vote, followed by Mike Ghiringhelli with 18.9% and incumbent Barbara Coler with 13.44%.

Three candidates remain close behind Coler: Bruce Ackerman, also an incumbent, has 12.78%; Cindy Swift has 12.69%; and incumbent Chance Cutrano has 12.6%. A seventh candidate, Doug Kelly, trails with 7.6%.

In the race for two Town Council seats in Tiburon, Holli Thier is in first place with 27.38%, Isaac Nikfar has 27.11% and Andrew Thompson has 25.37%. Chuck Hornbrook trails with 20.15%.

In the race for two seats on the Marin City Community Services District board, second-place candidate Lynnette Egenlauf increased her lead over third-place candidate Royce McLemore. Egenlauf now has 32.71% of the vote, while McLemore has 27.08%. Henry Mims leads with 40.21%.

In the race to represent Division 2 on the Marin Municipal Water District board, Diane Maier remains in first place with 37.86% of the vote, although her lead narrowed slightly over second-place candidate Robert Sandoval, who has 36.60%. Jack Kenney has 25.54%

In the race to represent Division 3 on the North Marin Water District board, first-place candidate Michael Joly increased his lead slightly over Francis Drouillard. Joly now has 52.81%.

More updates of the vote count are scheduled for Friday, Monday and Nov. 20. State law mandates that final election results be reported to the secretary of state by Dec. 3.
