Black and Latino families displaced from Palm Springs neighborhood reach $27M tentative settlement
Black and Latino families who were displaced from a Southern California neighborhood in the 1960s have reached a tentative settlement agreement with the city of Palm Springs. The $27 million deal is much smaller than the $2.3 billion former residents and descendants previously sought as restitution for their displacement. The Palm Springs City Council is set to vote on the agreement Thursday. The money would go toward housing assistance and a monument to commemorate the history of the neighborhood.
