The Pens lost 7-1 to the Stars on Monday night.

Evgeni Malkin apologized to Penguins fans on Tuesday for the team’s poor showing against Dallas one night earlier when the team lost 7-1 at PPG Paints Arena.

It was the first time in franchise history that the Penguins allowed six goals in the first period and after practice on Tuesday, Evgeni Malkin spoke from his leadership role about the team’s performance.

“Last night, I want to say sorry to the fans,” Malkin said. “They [watched] a really bad game. I hope we, together, find a good way, win tomorrow and start building the team better.”

The Pens will be back at it tonight and looking to get back into the win column with the Detroit Red Wings in town.

“Again, tomorrow is a new day,” Malkin said Tuesday. “Today is a new day. And tomorrow is a new game,” Malkin said. “It’s time to play better at home, for sure, and show our best. We can play better, for sure, because our group is, like, I love it.”

Puck drop tonight is set for 7:30 p.m.
