Tottenham well placed to progress to knockouts

Tottenham‘s 100 per cent record in the Europa League this season ended when they fell to a 2-1 loss to Galatasaray last week.

However, the Lilywhites are still well placed to secure automatic passage to the round of sixteen, with the teams who finish in the top eight getting that privilege.

Spurs currently sit in seventh place in the table, and with North London club having home games against AS Roma and Elfsborg, and travelling to Rangers and Hoffenheim, they will fancy their chances of securing progress.

Big announcement made by Roma and Hoffenheim

Both Roma and Hoffenheim will have new managers when they take on Spurs, with both clubs announcing that they have parted ways with their current head coach.

The Italian side have sacked Ivan Juric after just 12 matches in charge, with Roberto Mancini reportedly the favourite to replace him (BBC Sport).

Meanwhile, the Bundesliga side have parted ways with Pellegrino Matarazzo, with Christian Ilzer expected to take over from the American (BuliNews).

Another one of Tottenham’s upcoming Europa League opponents might also be about to make a managerial change, with Philippe Clement’s future at Rangers also reported to be uncertain (Football Insider).

How will this impact Spurs?

Tottenham will prefer to face the current version of Roma and Hoffenheim, who are languishing in 12th and 15th place in the Serie A and Bundesliga respectively.

The worry for Ange Postecoglou‘s men is that both clubs could have a new manager bounce and be much more confident outfits by the time they take on Spurs.
