After exiting the Lakers’ game against the Raptors with an eye injury, Anthony Davis says he is ready to go against the Grizzlies.

In the third quarter of Sunday’s Lakers game against the Raptors, Jakob Poeltl struck Anthony Davis in the left eye and did not return to the game.

The Lakers went on to win, but his status for Wednesday’s game was very much up in the air. Luckily, at practice Tuesday afternoon, AD confirmed that he is okay and will play.

He also mentioned that despite a pair of goggles preventing him from future eye injuries, he will not wear any versus Memphis.

Why does AD hate goggles so much?

He’s such a valuable player and this isn’t the first time he’s suffered an eye injury as a Laker.

Last season, an eye injury took him out of a pivotal game against the Golden State Warriors in March and he also missed time due to an eye injury he suffered versus the Wolves the following month.

In the bubble, during a scrimmage against the Orlando Magic, he had an incident with his eyes and had to wear goggles in practice.

He didn’t like the experience and clearly still doesn’t.

Unless a doctor forces AD to wear them, it’s clear he will not take extra precautions to protect his vision.

Lakers fans might have to do something to convince him that it’s totally awesome to wear glasses, and in fact, all the cool kids are doing it.

Until then, the team will just have to hold their breath and hope no one decides to whack him in the face again.

The good news is that he’ll be ready to go and can continue to dominate the floor for Los Angeles.
