Person struck, killed by TriMet MAX train in NE Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A person died after being hit by a TriMet MAX train in Northeast Portland on Tuesday, according to Portland police.

Officers arrived at the intersection of NE 141st Avenue and E Burnside Street to find the person had “suffered significant traumatic injuries and was deceased upon our arrival” just after 2 p.m., police said.

"There may be traffic impacts to E Burnside and TriMet service for a few hours, so emergency crews can safely access the area, and deputies can conduct the investigation," the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office said.

TriMet said the Blue Line is once again in service but will have delays until about 6:30 p.m.

The identity of the person involved in the crash remains unclear.
