Missing man rescued, charged with trespassing at Clarksville Cave
CLARKSVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Albany County Sheriff's Office announced that a man missing out of Dutchess County was rescued at Clarksville Cave on Saturday. The man, John Higgins, had been reported missing on Thursday.
On November 9 around 10:18 a.m., the sheriff's office received calls about an abandoned pickup truck parked at the Clarksville Cave trail entrance near Son’s Deli in New Scotland. During the investigation, deputies learned that the truck belonged to Higgins, and that witnesses reported seeing him enter the trail around 1 p.m. on Thursday.
The ACSO then deployed the Search and Rescue Team and were able to locate Higgins in the cave around 2 p.m. alongside State Forest Rangers and the National Cave Rescue Commission. He was evaluated on the scene by emergency medical personnel, who found him to be uninjured.
Following the rescue, Higgins was charged with trespassing and was issued an appearance ticket for November 21 at the Town of New Scotland Court.
