Hannaford Supermarkets experience cyber security issues
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Hannaford Supermarkets are experiencing cyber security issues, the parent company Ahold Delhaize USA confirmed Saturday. Hannaford stores, however, remain open and are still accepting all payment methods, including credit card payments.
"Immediately upon detecting the issue, our security teams began an investigation with the assistance of external cybersecurity experts," the company said in a release. "We also notified law enforcement."
On Friday, Nov. 8, Hannaford Supermarkets shared that some stores, pharmacies and the website were experiencing a network error. According to Ahold Delhaize USA, they took some systems offline to assist with mitigating the issue.
Hannaford Supermarkets said recovery efforts are continuing but the website and online to-go ordering were still down. Most Pharmacies, within Hannaford, however, are still processing prescriptions.
"Each of Ahold Delhaize USA’s brands' stores are open and serving customers. We will continue to take actions to further protect our systems. The security of our customers, associates and partners is a top priority," the company stated. "We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused customers and partners."
To-go orders for pick-up or delivery have been canceled, according to Hannaford. Customers with a canceled order may see a pending transaction for a few days before it clears.
