Active weather around Oregon and SW Washington to start the week
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Get ready for soggy weather this week with a couple of large weather systems arriving into the region. The first has already moved in this morning and the next will make its way to our region on Wednesday.
With that, active weather is expected through mid-week around NW Oregon and SW Washington with numerous rain showers in the forecast. Both Monday and Wednesday are days that we could see an isolated thunderstorm.
The thunderstorm potential on Monday stretches from most of the Oregon Coast to the Willamette Valley bringing with it the possibility of heavy downpours at times. Wednesday looks to be the wettest and breeziest day over the next five.

Daytime highs in PDX will remain near average as we hang out in the mid-50s for the start of the week.
Snow elevations are expected to fall to 4,500 feet Monday into Tuesday with light snowfall over the passes. Drivers should be prepared to see wet and potentially slushy roadways at times.
The south central Oregon Cascades is expecting new snow accumulation of 8 to 16 inches from Monday morning to Tuesday morning. And that's why there is a Winter Weather Advisory in place for that part of the Cascades. Be sure to check pass conditions before you head out through Tuesday. Heavy snow showers could bring snowfall down to the roadways around 4,500 feet in the central Oregon passes through Thursday.
Blustery weather will develop across the coastline with wind gusts increasing to 35+ mph by Tuesday afternoon. A High Surf Advisory will go into place Tuesday for hazardous seas.
In all, keep the rain gear with you this week! Weather models forecast 2 to 3 inches of rain coming in just the next four to five days.
We'll get some drier days by the end of the week in Portland.
