Suspect killed by deputy after Waldport disturbance

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A suspect firing a rifle during a reported disturbance in Waldport was killed Sunday night after being shot by a deputy who responded to the scene Sunday night, according to authorities.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a home on Southeast Rolph Court after a disturbance where the suspect was firing a rifle.

Deputies said they set up an observation point near the home and that the suspect left the residence with a gun before being shot.

The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital, however, they were declared dead before arrival.

The Lincoln City Police Department is leading the investigation and they did not share if the deputy who fired the shots is on leave.
