Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson betting tips
Fascinating or farcical? Whatever you think of this weekend’s fight between Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson – it’s happening. It’s going to be a blockbuster evening at the AT&T Stadium and it’s perhaps fitting that streaming giants Netflix will be broadcasting the Hollywood encounter.
Jake Paul, “The Problem Child”, enters the eight-rounder as the odds-on favourite with most bookmakers, but can Mike Tyson – at the age of 58 – roll back the years? Below are our top three tips for the fight.
Over 5.5 Rounds in the fight at 1/1 with Betfred
60 seconds makes a huge difference in boxing, and these shorter two-minute rounds will fly by in the ring this weekend. The pair will also be fighting in 14oz gloves, which are generally used for general training and sparring, and should lessen the chances of a knockout.
Mike Tyson to be knocked down in Rounds 5-8 at 7/4 with Betfred
He clearly doesn’t have a legacy or resume that’s even comparable with Mike Tyson, but at the age of 27 – Jake Paul has youth firmly on his side. He’s also got a decent amount of power behind him having won seven of his ten fights by KO. Even with two-minute rounds, 58-year-old Tyson is likely to fatigue in the later stages having retired in 2005.
Jake Paul to win via points at 16/5 with Betfred
Given I think a knockout is unlikely and fatigue will be an issue for Tyson due to age and 19-year professional absence, I suspect the fitness and sheer output from Jake Paul will be enough for him to claim a win on points.
Iron Mike expectation after training camp
Only positive noises coming from Mike Tyson’s camp… as you would probably expect.
The 58-year-old was originally scheduled to fight Jake Paul earlier this year but postponed after suffering an ulcer flare-up on a flight to Los Angeles.
With that behind him, Tyson has MMA mastermind Rafael Cordeiro as his lead trainer and Billy White, who has known Iron Mike since their teenage years, warning Paul that his man still carries the “same intensity” with “more patience and knowledge”.
With that said, there’s still plenty to prove for Tyson – who hasn’t won a professional boxing match since 2003 in a fight that features the largest age gap in professional boxing history.
Stats
- Age: 58
- Height: 5ft 10″
- Weight: 15st 7lbs

Is Problem Child ready?
Jake Paul certainly doesn’t lack for confidence. The Problem Child’s only defeat since turning professional came at the hands of Tommy Fury, but since that day has claimed four successive wins to take his record to 10-1 with seven KOs.
“The Gods always knew, 12 days to destiny,” Paul tweeted. “Three and a half years ago my team laughed at my idea to fight Mike Tyson. My own coach told me I had no chance to beat the man. They say impossible, I say let’s find out.”
He’s beaten a swathe of recognisable names since turning professional in 2018 including UFC fighters Nate Diaz, Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva and most recently bare-knuckle fighter Mike Perry in July.
Stats
- Age: 27
- Height: 6ft 1″
