Several IRGC members killed in Iran
Iranian media have reported ongoing unrest in the east of the country, stating that forces of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were again targeted in Sistan and Baluchestan province.
The ISNA news agency, affiliated with Iran’s government, reported on Sunday, November 10, that five members of the Basij, a militia linked to the IRGC, were killed in Saravan’s Sirkan district in Sistan and Baluchestan.
According to the report, five IRGC members lost their lives following an armed confrontation.
The IRGC has labeled the attack as a terrorist act, stating that units stationed in the region have been deployed to the scene and are pursuing the armed assailants.
So far, no individual or group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Similar attacks from Iran’s eastern regions have been reported over the past month, with the armed group Jaish al-Adl claiming responsibility for some.
Jaish al-Adl, labeled as a “terrorist” group by the Iranian government, recently announced plans to escalate its attacks against the Islamic Republic.
The recent attack highlights ongoing security challenges for Iran’s forces in its eastern provinces. Escalating tensions underscore a continued cycle of violence and unrest in the region.
