Pakistan blames India, Taliban for deadly Quetta attack

0

Khawaja Asif, Pakistan’s Defense Minister, has described the deadly attack in Quetta as part of India’s “proxy war” against Pakistan, accusing the Afghan Taliban of “collusion and overlooking” such actions.

On Monday, he stated that the use of Afghanistan territory for such attacks is considered an “act of aggression against Pakistan.”

In the recent attack by the separatist group Baloch Liberation Army in Quetta, nearly 30 people were killed and over 60 others were injured. Some sources indicated that the majority of the casualties were members of Pakistan’s military.

The Pakistani Defense Minister said, “While it may not have official Afghan government approval, the lack of action against these activities, or ignoring them, reflects a form of indirect collusion.”

He further added, “Afghanistan soil is also being used for these terrorist activities.”

The Taliban has denied the Pakistani officials’ accusations, stating that Pakistan is shifting blame for its own security failures onto Afghanistan.

In the interview, Khawaja Asif accused India of fueling a “proxy war” against Pakistan by supporting groups like Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Baloch Liberation Army.

Asif asserted, “The Quetta terrorist attack is part of a proxy war that India has initiated against us through groups like TTP and the Baloch Liberation Army.”

He claimed that these actions aim to undermine China’s efforts to develop Pakistan. Chinese citizens in Pakistan have faced numerous attacks over the past year, with incidents reported in Karachi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where Chinese workers were targeted.

Asif noted, “These attacks on Chinese nationals are intended to force them to leave Pakistan.”

Pakistan has allocated substantial security resources to protect joint China-Pakistan projects. China, a strategic ally, has invested heavily in Pakistan, though these projects have been repeatedly targeted, especially by Baloch separatists.

These escalating attacks underscore Pakistan’s complex security challenges and the broader regional dynamics impacting its stability.

As Pakistan navigates these security threats, the protection of foreign investments, especially from China, remains a critical concern.
