NATIONAL SUMMARY

A storm moving into the Northwest today will bring rain and

showers from San Francisco to Seattle and on into Canada.

Snow is expected to pile up in the Cascades and northern

Sierra Nevada, especially at night as the air temperature

falls. The Great Lakes will have windy conditions. Spotty

showers will cover the region from northern Michigan into

northwestern Pennsylvania and much of western and northern

New York. There can be showers throughout Vermont, New

Hampshire and Maine also. The weather will be dry and quiet

across the Plains with high pressure in place. Dry weather

will extend from the southern Plains into the Mississippi,

Tennessee and Ohio River valleys. Afternoon temperatures

will approach record-challenging high levels from southern

Texas to the Southeast states and the mid-Atlantic.
