VIDEO: Chicago Bears Fans Chant “Fire Flus!” During Ugly Loss

0

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Three years ago, Matt Nagy was walking the Chicago Bears sideline, hearing chants of “Fire Nagy” echo across Soldier Field. Fans had seen enough of his inadequate coaching. He’d been given every opportunity and then some to turn things around. Instead, his ongoing lack of accountability and failure to provide answers to the team’s problems led to him losing his job after the 2021 season ended. Fans must feel like they’re in the Twilight Zone because now Matt Eberflus got the same treatment during an ugly 19-3 loss to the New England Patriots.

Fans were heard chanting “Fire Flus” throughout Soldier Field in the 4th quarter before leaving for the exits. It was a surreal scene. One shouldn’t be surprised after watching Caleb Williams get sacked nine times and the offense and going two straight games without a touchdown.

Matt Eberflus has exhausted his second chances.

Many wanted him gone after last season. His team had squandered three double-digit leads in the 4th quarter, which was a clear warning sign that he doesn’t have his players ready for tight games. The offense is somehow worse than it was last season despite a complete roster and coaching staff overhaul. There is nobody left for Matt Eberflus to point the finger at. Every problem can and should be traced back to him. Bringing him back was always a gamble, and now the Bears are at risk of ruining the development of another young quarterback because the organization didn’t want to fire a coach after only two years. Well, now they get to reap the rewards of that decision. Expect fans to keep that chant up every week until Flus is gone.
