German tourist injured at Avakas gorge

Paphos police and the fire department were called to help a woman injured while hiking Avakas gorge over the weekend.

According to the police, the call was received on Saturday around 3.30. Police reported that the German woman lost her balance and had a fall. She was unable to hike back out due to injuries suffered.

Authorities went to the scene where they located the woman and investigated the situation.

The woman was subsequently taken by ambulance to the emergency department of the Paphos tgeneral hospital where she was determined to have suffered an ankle injury, police said. She was discharged after receiving first aid.
