Bruce Pearl has a major issue with his team but Todd Golden’s issues may be much, much worse.

SEC basketball had a rough day Friday.

First, news broke that Florida coach Todd Golden has allegedly engaged in some very unsavory behavior. According to ESPN, “The Title IX complaint includes allegations that Golden sent photos and videos of his genitalia, made unwanted sexual advances on Instagram and requested sexual favors.

“On multiple occasions, Golden allegedly took photos of women walking or driving — or their cars in various locations — and then sent those photos to the subjects of the photos. He also allegedly showed up to locations where he knew the women would be...“

He deserves the chance to defend himself, as all of us do, but if any part of this is true, he’s done, and not just at Florida.

Not to be left out, Auburn was on the way to Houston when the plane was ordered to turn around and go back.

Why?

Because members of the team apparently engaged in “horseplay” which allegedly escalated into a frightening situation. The pilot said “a bunch of basketball players” were involved but the Daily Mail reports that the two guys at the heart of it were freshman Jahki Howard and senior Jaheim Hudson.

After taking them home, where they were left, Auburn headed back to Houston.

That kind of gives this clip a little more resonance. If you can, watch it on a bigger screen.

Howard is #3 and he’s basically operating near the bench. Miles Kelly, who you’ll remember from Georgia Tech, goes off on a major heater, hitting five straight threes. It’s hard to imagine anyone showing worse body language on the court than Howard does here. We have no idea what actually happened on the plane, but Howard’s body language, alone, is cancerous.

So it was a rough day for the SEC but in challenge there is opportunity, so we’d like to suggest they revise their tagline.

It’s been “It Just Means More,” but this works better:

“It’s Just More Mean.”
