No. 5 Texas capitalizing on Florida mistakes, clobbering Gators 35-0 at halftime

AUSTIN (KXAN) — No. 5 Texas converted a pair of turnovers into 14 points and quarterback Quinn Ewers threw for nearly 300 yards in the first half, lifting the Longhorns to a 35-0 halftime lead over Florida on Saturday at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium.

Ewers tossed four touchdowns in the first half, two to Matthew Golden, and completed 17 of 25 passes for 297 yards. He's completed eight passes for 20 yards or more and Texas receivers have racked up 212 yards after the catch.

Isaiah Bond leads Texas with 44 rushing yards on an end-around carry in the first quarter.

Florida had one drive of more than five plays in the first half, an 8-play drive in the second quarter that ended in a punt. Aidan Warner, filling in for the injured DJ Lagway, is 7-for-12 for 67 yards with an interception.

Texas outgained the Gators 353-138 in the first half and averaged 10.1 yards per play.
