Cool weekend ahead of possible showers
NEW YORK (PIX11) -- We have continued sunshine on Saturday, though it will be noticeably cooler, with highs expected to be around 57. This is over a 10-degree drop from Friday.
The ground remains very dry from the lack of rain over this past month, and this has contributed to some brush fires in the area and smoke in the air.
Sunday remains much the same throughout the day, with a high near 60, and a mix of sun and clouds. However, clouds build later in the afternoon as a frontal system is expected to arrive by late evening.
This will finally bring some much-needed—and measurable rain --to our area. These showers will likely linger into Monday morning but will clear out by the afternoon, making way for lots of sunshine and warmer temperatures in the mid to upper 60s.
Tuesday, behind a cold front, features cooler and more seasonable temperatures in the mid-50s. There will again be plenty of sun to go along with it.
Wednesday is even colder, with a morning wind chill in the mid-20s, and a high expected to be in the upper 40s. A shower chance is in the forecast for Thursday before the sun returns on Friday—highs rebounding to the mid-50s.
