Sevilla could move for Spurs man who is yet to start a game this season
It has emerged that Sevilla are plotting a move for a Tottenham Hotspur man, who is evidently not in Ange Postecoglou’s plans.
Sergio Reguilon surprised many by staying at Spurs
Most Spurs fans would have expected Sergio Reguilon to be one of the first players to leave the club during the summer transfer window.
It came as a shock to many when the left-back decided to remain at N17, even though Postecoglou made it clear publicly that the defender is surplus to requirements (The Standard).
With the Spaniard’s contract at Hotspur Way ending next summer, one would expect Spurs to do their utmost to cash in on the player during the upcoming transfer window.
Sevilla plotting a move for Sergio Reguilon
A report in Ficherio has now claimed that the Tottenham man has emerged as a target for Sevilla ahead of the January window.
The outlet explains that the Andalusian side are not happy with Valentín Barco, who they signed on loan in the summer, and they could thus decide to make a move to re-sign Reguilon, who previously spent a year on loan at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium.
It is pointed out that Reguilon has been frozen out at Spurs and with the player not having much time left on his contract, it would be an easy deal for the La Liga side to do.
Reguilon has plenty of power
Given Reguilon’s contract situation, he holds all the power and the player could well decide to run his contract down and leave on a free transfer next summer.
The fact that he did not leave in the summer shows that the 27-year-old is determined to find the right sort of project for the crucial next step in his career.
However, one would think that the chance to return to Sevilla, where he had the best spell of his career, would be tempting for the left-back.
