I’m not sure why people are so bothered. If they disrespect something, it just basically shows what calibre of people they are.
It seems to me that remembrance has changed the further we have got away from WW2. It always used to be Remembrance Sunday and the minutes silence was then. Now there’s a whole series of them and the day itself where it’s now longer - and there’s much more opprobrium if it’s not observed (and I don’t mean by some drunken morons). There’s often military presence at events, I don’t remember that from my younger days, other than at the memorial services on the day.
