Jaish al-Adl threatens to expand attacks across Iran

0

The militant group Jaish al-Adl has claimed responsibility for an attack on a convoy of Iranian military forces participating in a drill, and has threatened to escalate its attacks against the Islamic Republic.

In a statement released on Friday, November 8, the group, which the Iranian government refers to as a “terrorist” organization, took responsibility for the assault on the Iranian forces participating in the “Martyrs of Security” exercise.

According to the statement, at least 12 people were killed or injured in the attack, which targeted the convoy in the Rask region, a part of the volatile Sistan and Baluchestan province in southeastern Iran.

Iranian state media have confirmed the attack on the convoy in the Firuzabad district of Rask, reporting that one member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and four armed individuals were killed in the assault.

Jaish al-Adl’s statement also acknowledged that four of its fighters were killed during clashes with Iranian forces.

In the statement, the group described the Islamic Republic as “evil… heartless and mindless,” and threatened to expand its operations beyond Sistan and Baluchestan to other cities across Iran.

Sistan and Baluchestan is one of the most unstable regions in Iran, and independent media outlets in exile have reported that the rising insecurity in the area is a result of military actions by the Islamic Republic against the Sunni minority in the country.

The attack in Sistan and Baluchestan underscores the ongoing volatility in southeastern Iran, where separatist and militant groups like Jaish al-Adl continue to challenge the authority of the Islamic Republic.

The group’s threat to expand its operations across Iran highlights the growing tensions between Tehran and ethnic and religious minorities in the region. As the Iranian government faces increasing unrest, this incident signals the possibility of further violence and instability in the coming months.
