Three Generation Home

0

Three Generation Home is a minimalist house located in Suzhou, China, designed by Zhenxi Zhu. Prioritizing simplicity and functionality, the house is arranged to support family activities and individual hobbies in an inviting, uncluttered space that emphasizes daily life. A “wooden house” concept at the entrance introduces a seamless transition from the outdoors. By wrapping the reinforced concrete structure in warm wood veneer, Zhu brings an approachable, natural aesthetic to the homecoming experience. Inside, the layout subtly partitions areas to balance shared and private spaces.

A substantial beam divides the dining room and study, softened visually by a gentle, curving ceiling treatment that enhances the flow between spaces. In the dining room, a walnut table stands as the centerpiece, contrasting effectively with the light surroundings to accommodate various gatherings and dining occasions. Designed to draw family members to this central space, the dining room is intentionally warm and uncluttered, fostering a welcoming environment where the family can gather and enjoy meals together with a sense of comfort and cohesion.
