Victorias City Mayor Javi Benitez confirms breakup with actress Sue Ramirez

BACOLOD, Philippines – Curtains have closed on the relationship between Victorias City, Negros Occidental Mayor Javier Miguel “Javi” Benitez and actress Sue Ramirez.

After photos and videos of Ramirez and actor Dominic Roque kissing and holding hands in a Siargao bar went viral, Benitez took to social media to confirm his breakup with Ramirez on Saturday, November 9.

The 30-year-old mayor clarified that he and Ramirez had already split up four months ago. But what Benitez confirmed Saturday was in stark contrast with his previous statement when he filed his certificate of candidacy for congressman of the 3rd district of Negros Occidental on October 6.

When asked then about Ramirez’s absence and the current status of their relationship, he said their relationship remained strong and that Ramirez was just busy with her showbiz commitments. With the viral photos and videos of Ramirez and Roque, however, the former actor-turned-politician broke his silence and clarified the real score of his relationship with the actress.

Benitez said his five-year love affair with Ramirez was full of “smiles, laughter, and little joys.” He also clarified that there were no outside forces that led to their breakup, adding that there were “just two hearts finding their way together.”

“Four months have passed since our paths quietly and respectfully went their separate ways…. Sue is a beautiful soul, a gem in the entertainment world, a true talent who showed me that love can be both fierce and gentle,” Benitez wrote.

He also said that he wishes her “nothing but happiness and the love she deserves.”

“Here’s to those good times, held close to my heart, and to the grace of whatever lies ahead. I hope she continues to share her God-given talent with many more, touching lives as she has touched mine,” Benitez added.

Ramirez has yet to comment on the issue.

Benitez is the son of billionaire Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez and former mayor Dominique “Nikki” Lopez.

Ramirez, 28, is best known for her roles in the shows The Broken Marriage Vow, The Iron Heart, and Hanggang Saan. She also starred in the films Ang Babaeng Allergic Sa WiFi, The Debutantes, Rewind, Finding Agnes, and Cuddle Weather, among others. – Rappler.com
