I’m scared trolls will target my daughters – they’re my Dancing On Ice inspiration, says Chelsee Healey
SHE’S bravely putting her body on the line to compete in Dancing On Ice – and it’s all for her two young daughters.
Hollyoaks star Chelsee Healey, 36, has been partnered with pro skater Andy Buchanan for the 2025 series and is hard at work learning to twizzle around the rink.
She is taking part to make daughters Coco and Cookie proud[/caption]The actress isn’t holding back, declaring “I’m game for anything”, and just wants to make her girls Cookie, 11 months, and Coco, seven, proud.
But she also has fears that attention from the primetime show’s big audience could lead to some nasty online comments aimed at her and her family.
It’s something she’s had to deal with in the past from disgusting racist comment aimed at her eldest daughter on Twitter, to mum-shaming posts following the birth of her second child.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun on behalf of Ali Express, she said: “I think that’s always in the back of my head. I’m older now, I’m definitely wiser, my headspace is happy and content in my life that anybody that could say anything negative towards me wouldn’t really affect me.
“The thing that really upsets me is when they direct it at my children, that’s the one thing that you know scares me a little bit coming into Dancing On Ice is that they can be targeted.”
Chelsee doesn’t have any past skating experience and is refusing to get ahead of herself by harbouring dreams of reaching the final, but she is determined to give her all and try all manner of daring maneuvers.
“I’m up for anything,” she said. “I love a challenge and I think I’ll be better up in the air than on the ice so just throw me about, the whole routine.”
The driving force behind each skate will be Cookie and Coco, who will no doubt be at rink side during the competition.
It’s for them that she’s committed to gruelling two-hour daily sessions on the ice and the nerves that come with skating on live television.
“I’m gonna be super nervous but the whole reason why I’m doing this is for my daughters,” she said.
“They are my inspiration and I want to teach them that you can do something and you can achieve anything that you put your mind to.
“This is so out my comfort zone and I want to teach them that if you go for it then it’s possible, so I just hope that I do them proud even though it’s going to be very real and I will be very nervous.”
There’s lots to look forward to as well, from the sparkling productions to the camaraderie with co-stars and physical benefits.
Chelsee said: “Do you know what, you’ve probably caught me on a good day. I don’t wear a scrap of makeup every day.
“I’ve got the mum bun, so being able to get glammed up every weekend and wear all the glitzy costumes, I can’t wait for.
“We’ve also got like a little WhatsApp group, so we’re all there to support one another which is so nice. It’s such a good group but we’ve only like spent one day with each other.
“I think we’ve got our next day with everyone in December which would be so good to catch up and we’ve not met Holly and Stephen yet, but I can’t wait to.”
And when it’s all over, Chelsee’s attention will return to Hollyoaks and the little matter of growing her family.
She said: “Oh my gosh, yeah I’m hoping as soon as Dancing On Ice is finished we can go again.
“I just want a really big team and I just I love children. I really want to expand my little family.”
