New Delhi: Suryakumar Yadav, the captain of the Indian cricket team and one of its top fielders, pulled off a spectacular direct hit during the first T20I of the four-match series against South Africa.

Suryakumar Yadav’s brilliant throw on Friday, November 8, at Kingsmead in Durban sent South Africa’s Gerald Coetzee back to the pavilion, bringing an end to his innings.

Gerald Coetzee displayed an explosive batting performance for South Africa in the first T20I. With the match nearly out of reach, the Proteas pacer swung his bat aggressively, aiming for big boundaries to entertain the Durban crowd.

Gerald Coetzee, to some extent, was quite successful in his attempt as he smashed three sensational sixes and batted with a strike rate of 209.08, which was the most by any South African in the innings.

However, Coetzee’s fiery innings came to an abrupt end on the fifth ball of the 17th over, as he was run out for 23 runs off 11 balls.’

Notably, in the 16.5th over, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh delivered a full toss to Keshav Maharaj, who failed to capitalize on it. Maharaj mistimed his drive to extra cover and called for a single.

There was a massive mix-up between Keshav Maharaj and Gerald Coetzee after several indecisive calls and a brief mid-pitch conversation. Eventually, they decided to attempt the run, but Suryakumar Yadav’s sensational direct hit shattered the stumps at the batter’s end, sending Coetzee back to the dugout.

Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav took precise aim and hit the top of the stumps at the batter’s end, dismissing Gerald Coetzee, who was well short of the crease. This sensational direct hit reduced the Proteas to 135/9.

Following that, Avesh Khan bowled a stunning delivery to castle Keshav Maharaj on the fifth ball of the 18th over, bundling out South Africa for 141 and securing a 61-run victory for India.
